Free Marijuana For Poor People In Berkeley
The East Bay Express first that the ordinance requires the dispensaries to donate 2% of the marijuana they sell every year to people in the low-income bracket. The ordinance commands that the pot be at least as good as what is normally dispensed, not a cheap rip-off, writing that the “medical cannabis provided under this section shall be the same quality on average” as marijuana “dispensed to other members.”
Sean Luce with the Berkeley Patients Group defended the ordinance, saying, “It’s sort of a cruel thing that when you are really ill and you do have a serious illness…it can be hard to work, it can be hard to maintain a job and when that happens, your finances suffer and then you can’t buy the medicine you need.”
Yeh ….. uh-huh. Yes, pot is well-known to help you with finding work. Just to be safe, I usually do a couple of bowls before a job interview …..
I am not aware of marijuana being necessary for the treatment of any illness.
It isn’t that I’m opposed to people smoking the stuff. If that’s what trips their trigger, then go for it. But, let’s not pretend it serves any function towards human health. Yes, it makes some people feel good. But, this is now heading towards the same lunatic bs we’re going through with birth control and the like. Just because you can, doesn’t mean someone else is obliged to pay for it.
Can we just let Berkeley go? Can we pronounce them city non-grata?
